Jane & Nour are getting married in Seoul

Seoul Neighborhood Guide

We selected the venue for its proximity to Seoul on the trail to Bugaksan mountain, but it’s a bit far for exploring the rest of the city.

Note: we don’t have a room block, but recommend you stay north of the river for the wedding nights (i.e. not Gangnam). Seoul is a big city of 10 million residents, so I recommend taking some days before or after the wedding to explore south of the river.

We’ll include some hotels for each neighborhood, but there are tons of options — find what feels right for you! Don’t hesitate to text us ;)

Insa-dong

인사동

For guests prioritizing tradition, culture… and proximity to the venue

Located in the heart of the older city. Known for tea houses, antique shops, traditional crafts, and close proximity to the Royal Palaces (Gyeongbokgung/Changdeokgung). Excellent mid-range and boutique hotel options.

Venue Access

15 – 20 minutes (Taxi is shortest, a quick bus or short ride). Best proximity.

Hotel options:

  • Moxy Hotel (I like that they have laundry, and no need to bring detergent)

Myeong-dong

명동

For guests prioritizing shopping, nightlife, and maximum city access.

Seoul's premier tourist and shopping district. Known for cosmetics, fashion, street food, and modern hotels. Offers excellent transit connections to the rest of the city.

Venue Access

20 - 30 minutes (Taxi or Subway to Anguk/Hyehwa then local bus/taxi).

Hotel options

Itaewon

이태원

For guests prioritizing international dining, trendy bars, and diverse options.

This is where we often stay when we visit Seoul. Known for its cosmopolitan atmosphere, foreign restaurants, upscale bars, and nightlife. Located south of Namsan Mountain, offering a distinct, trendy feel.

Venue Access

30 - 45 minutes (Taxi is direct; public transport requires 1-2 subway transfers and a final leg by bus/taxi).

Hotel options:

  • Mondrian Hotel is not quite in the thick of it but is comfortable and has good restaurants inside

Seongsu-dong

성수동

For guests prioritizing modern trends, upcycled aesthetics, and dynamic cafe culture.

Known as the "Brooklyn of Seoul" for repurposed factories, pop-up shops (K-brands, fashion), unique cafes, and Seoul Forest.
